A couple of months ago, I ran the Philly marathon. I was happy with my run there. But all my races leading up to Philly kind of blew. I really did only once race once I started training, and it was a half marathon in which I proved that flying back from Singapore and running… Read more »

Part I: Expo Revelation The first rule of marathoning is don’t do anything new on race day. Don’t try a new gadget to massage your muscles or modify your nutrition. Not that anyone would, but don’t modify your stride or try a new kind of shoe. These rules are set in stone and are non-negotiable. Have… Read more »

When training for my first maraton, in 2008, I found myself in a love/hate relationship with my training plan. I loved having some direction in my life — ok, in my running life — but I hated feeling like I had to run. Running was something I liked, but I liked it on my terms…. Read more »

I feel great guilt about being away from home during hurricane Sandy. I hesitate to post about by run, which was great. But it was filled with great guilt. So I put off posting about it. Because that’s totally mature. I had a good run. Churned out 22 miles here — where it was sunny… Read more »

I often find myself in Las Vegas. And I often blog about my trips to Vegas with the same basic formula. I note that I’ve been in or am in Vegas. I bitch about how bad the running is in Las Vegas. I bitch about my job, usually praising the people I work with but… Read more »

I have signed up for Philly! I’ll be running the marathon on November 18, which is 16 weeks from yesterday. So today is my first day training! Once again, I’ve signed up for a custom training plan with McMillian Running. I used a McMillian plan for Boston in 2010, and kind of recrafted it again… Read more »

Race Report
It’s not the heat. It’s the humidity. And the crappy race times.
Posted on by Greg CohenAh, summer. What a great time to run. If you’re in San Francisco. Here, it’s hot and humid. Like a toilet. With hills. On the 4th, I ran the Putnam County Classic, a 8 mile run that I’ve enjoyed doing both last year and the year before. I am sorry to report that I’ve been… Read more »
